The ferry called Galaxy Wave operated by Safe Way Maritime leaves from Honduras mainland and docks into Dixon Cove twice daily.

In the cool season which is November through February the average temps are in the mid 70’s to low 80’s. During the warm season which is mid July through the end of September the temps are usually in the high 80’s.

Casual clothing including t-shirts, shorts, beachwear and sandals are acceptable everywhere. Long pants or a dress for finer dining is appropriate and maybe a rain jacket and/or a long sleeved shirt for rainy season.

English is the main language of the island, although Spanish is frequently spoken by some of the native dwellers. Most islanders are bilingual.

The Lempira (called lemps by the locals) is the official currency. However, US dollars are accepted island wide.
